MAH TELLYCASTWHORE IS DONEZ0RZ, PICS ON LAST PAGE

Post by JamesSmann »

So I'm acquiring a standard white tele body w/ pups and all from mickie, cuz he's fucking bad ass and what not. i'm going to put comp stripes and speed knobs on it, that much is for sure...

...i keed.

any way, i'm REALLLLLLY wanting to get going on this thing as soon as possible. and i'm doing everything i can to not pull the neck off my strat so i can play it tonight. my question is this: what kind of price point should i look for on ebay for a neck? what's a good price for tele neck? it'd be awesome if i could get one for 50-75. is that possible?

my guess is that would be a good price. . . for a cheap neck. beware that you probably won't get tuners either, but you never know.

yeah, i figured on that. i can get good sealed fender tuners like the ones i had augarino put on the strat for like 20-25 on ebay, so i'm not too concerned. with the deal mickie's giving me on the tele body, i can't lose!

now...to find comp stripe decals and speed knobs...

I was gonna BAN.

Strat necks have a rounded heel, you're best to get a Telecaster neck for it. Worth spending $100 to get a decent neck. Neck is very important.

I agree with Mike. You could find necks for that price, but if you intend to use this guitar a lot a good neck is definitely worth the extra money.

yeah, i'm going to take my time finding a neck for sure. i'm definitely wanting to get this thing hooked up sooner than later, but i also want to be able to get what's right. so if that means waiting a couple/few weeks, i can do so...but it'll be hard...huh-huh i said "hard."

Okay, so here's what the body looks like (brand fucking new, btw. Mickie could not rule any more than he does.). In ya'all's opinions, would a rosewood fingerboard look teh gayz0rz with this?

Not at all. It'll match the comp stripes.

But srzly rosewood will look fine. I think maple will look better though.

hogwash, maple, all the way.
you could get a cheap squire affin tele and snipe the neck, and sell teh body.
my squire affin neck(99) is amazing, almost all the finish has been sanded/worn down and i just oiled and it called it a day, serisouly one of the best necks i have ever owned, and its a cheap squire neck.

My Shine Tele back when it had a pearloid guard and the old neck. White+maple is the way to go.

I was going to make it look like this

Image

But decided white + maple looks better and got a MIM Fender neck for £80 or so.

That looks nice, would be even niceer with flat white scratcher. Fuck some pearloid.

Already way ahead of your there. I've got one of the way, with a pair of GFS vintagey Tele pickups. Once all the parts are together I'll finish off the string through and put this shit together.

the body w/ pups i bought from Mickie is an MIM standard in white with flat white scratchy poo. i really think it miiiiiggghhht look aces with a rosewood fretboard. my strat's a maple fretboard, so maybe i want something with even more tonal differences?
