DSL50 is a top amp. If you're using it for Clean or Crunch it's immense. You can definitely get the JCM800 vibe overdrive on teh Classic channel Crunch mode.

Hehe. That name appeals to me. But I did try and start a band called 101 Binary Kids.

Hey wait a minute, isn't that REALLY REALLY COOL???

[checks]

Yeah. It is. Hope you're happy with the new case Mike, you know it's right up my alley... mmm... kit out my JCM 900 and they'll all match...
So do they have to be much thicker at the front edge or something, given that the control panels take up the entire width of a post-plexi/JMP style marshall? I guess it wouldn't really be that different, just more of the gold is covered up and the cavity for the controls is wider?

Yup. Luckily the JVM has some space either side of the on/off switch and the input respectively for the wings to come in. Luckily the dude has the same amp as me himself so he's gone through all of this stuff with figuring out the logistics. I'm going to call it a JMP410H on Harmony Central Amp Forum afterwards to send all the 70's Marshall snobs into a hot funk.

The dude (Brad) is having some issues getting hold of the white piping for across the centre but we're thinking it should get to me around Feb 11th. I'm dead excited. Expect picture thread and maybe even a little movie clip FLYBY.

Yup, I'm excited, this is my favourite look of any Marshall head cases.

How's your Plexi clone by the way dude, you still lovin' it?

Yeah, I got a little 6-inch gold-faced script logo for it, and when I get my new camera steez all hooked up I'm going to do a couple demos, I already had a knock at some audio-only ones and I'm also close to posting musical stuff I've used it on. I'm not crazy about the attenuated sound while using a THD hotplate, actually, so I might install a PPIMV kit I bought, there'll be a corresponding thread if I do. Gain reduction mods may be in it's future as well (must try different pickups in my les paul first though, as the amp as it is turns my strat into a sex machine and I'd like to keep that), it's a thicker more substantial sound than my '73 Superbass, but somehow dirtier all the while.

What you said about the 70's snobs sums up what I have never understood about plexi/JMP enthusiasts, even though they're my fave amps: Tools of the Foghat Trade, man... It's hardly a convincing argument that you cannot improve, especially when they've seen the Vintage Modern knocking about... oooo how I want one o'thems...

Sounds fucking awesome. How hard are yo uusing the Hotplate? I've never played with one myself, but I hear past -12 you get some serious coloration. Plus half of that "big Marshall sound" is the speakers pushing lots of air which you're cutting out with the plate. your amp will be insanely loud without it.

I'd love to spent a day with your amps, a chilled crate of Kronenbourg and 20 Marlboro Lights, some Isolation Headphones in a shack in the middle of teh desert. oh and a copy of Highway To Hell.
