Plastic cabinet hardcases?

Post by Doog »

Anyone seen these about? I swear I saw 'em in guitar magazines a number of years back- basically a hard plastic hardcase that doubled as a riser for your cab..

You mean a flight case large enough for your 2x12" which you can then put underneath it at gigs?

Oh man!
I know what your talking about, but I can't recall any specific info about them.

I'll let you know if I find something among internets...

Personally, I would just get a standard roadcase like this:

I've never liekd that plastic case shit, and these case are just as expensive and are definitely proven to work.

Do you just want it for a stand?

Put that shit on a stool, chair, or a cheapass amp stand.

If they make a wideass one that isn't angled back, that may be a good idea..

I had that one, you can choose not to angle it.

It's sturdy enough for a 2x12" no bother.

I'm slightly more concerned about the head being toppled off somehow, but I guess that'd apply to any form of riser that isn't up against a wall really..

Personally I don't find 2x12" on floor projection an issue.

Just get some fucking casters.

It's not like 2 inches is gonna make a difference though- I've had casters on it before. I just hate not being able to hear myself properly because I'm only 4 feet in front of my amp. In that scenario, I have to turn up, and it just makes for far too much volume onstage and outfront- a mistake I've seen a million bands make in the past.

I pretty much always sort out some kind of riser for it anyways, but it'd just be nice to have something in tow so I don't have to go without. Doesn't matter really, I was kinda just thinking out loud.

*shrug*

Never really had a problem to be honest, most places have at least a small raised stage or nearby table should it take your fancy.

That some small fucking casters. Casters uncouple the cab from the ground. I like to have my cab flat on the deck for maximum bass response but you'll get increased projection at the same volume with Casters.
