rob said he wanted ass loads of pics, so i took assloads of pics!
this is after one coat.
it looks pretty ace to me, i think that honestly 2 coats should be perfect.
irl its still lighter than my j.s. but about right for my jaguar.
keep in mind my j.s. is pretty dark looking.
in the pics its hard to tell but thats really just the pics.
i took 1 of each with the flash on/flash off.

when shooting clear over a maple neck, do you tape off the frets, or is there a way to to get the clear off easily?

on a maple back/rosewood fretboard you aould tape off the frets and the fretboard right?
They say great minds think alike....Sometimes we do too...

on maple its easier and better to shoot the whole thing and then use a radius block and work grits 600-1200 or so, it takes off the lacquer and gives them a good shine.
it al makes the frets and the maple itself blend better, i.e. no sharp fret ends and a seemless feel,
yeah with rosewood you just tape it off.
same thing with ebony, altho rickenbacker used to spray rosewood.

for sure!
i will mos def take the lacquer off the frets it takes forever to do it by hand(i mean with your thumb) i did that for the first few frets on my tele.
i made up the template for the pg today and finished up the back plate.
Image

the back plate looks alright but if you look closely it has a slight wave in it, i'll send it your way and see what you think, i would much rather do one like the am standards that have the six holes, i think it looks a bit classier and plus its way easier.
drill press vs. using a razor blade and sandpaper to make a straight line.
but if you want it open like that i can just re-do it no problem, only thing is, it will never be perfect. altho i supose i could make a template of that lil access hole.

just let me know what yer thinkin.

back plate isn't a big deal dude. its 5 bucks. do what ever you want with it as long as its the same color as the front.

why did you make screw holes for the 5 way slider switch? there isn't going to be one in there? also random screw holes for middle pickup?

other than the extra 4 screw holes the blank looks awesome. dont throw that shit out. i might have you make another for my bullet if it fits

rob, finished you'r pg today, if you are lucky and if i have enough cash i will send out the guard and the back plate today, but most likely i will not be able to send them out until friday.
Image
the pup routes should be large enough, my shank on my table router is ever so slightly warped so it makes things samller/larger depending on what it is, i put a normal pup in your guard and then put it up to the one i made and they seem to fit the same but the tru test will be with the rob roe covers.

not the resonse i would have expected, but a resonse non-theless, i will be shipping this stuff out to you tomorrow via usps, i doubt they will be able to fuck up plastic but you never know, this will give you some time to assemble it and figure out how it looks and all that jazz, and if you want i can make you a guard out of that tort material for..... 15 bucks. it cost me about 14, but i want to see how it cuts and what not so. its all up to you.
