AmpClamp attachable Guitar Cabinet Mic Stand

So I got one of these doobries from http://www.ampclamp.com to make it quick and easy for me to make GEAR DEMOZ, cutting setting up time in half and meaning I can always get a decent mic position innit. It's a cool idea, the only downside of which being that you have to screw the mounting plate that the amp slides into into the cabinet side or bottom or top of whatever, however I buy my gear to use, not to hoarde, so I don't give a toss.

Bam

You can tilt the mic in it's bracket like this to move in the vertical plane

And also turn the ampclamp bracket in the mount to move in the horizontal plane

Overall I'm dead chuffed with it.

Hhaha @ that picture I saw a one where someone had put the whammy bar in the input jack on craiglist and they did the epic fail treatment to it haha.

Thats a bargain for the clamp mike, and great for the quick setup. I'm not ready to drill holes in my shiny new cab yet but maybe one day!

Nifty product idea and space/weight saving nonetheless when used right.

What I do is I get right in there with a "tube mic" and mic the tubes.

I'm still curious about whether cabinet vibrations are going to get transmitted mechanically to the microphone and color the way it "hears" the speaker, or if cab vibes are negligibiggle... nedgigolo... ngegeocello... er... if they don't make no difference. Mike, do you get any sense that that's happening?

Haha, I had a friend in Jr. High who was all into gear the way I am, (probably the closest I had to having someone like a shortscaler to talk to IRL), and I'll never forget the day I had to tell him amp heads don't have onboard speakers like combo amps.

Some fish-faced responses from him during 3rd period woodshop that day:

"Dude, you're full of shit. Of course they do."

"What if you needed to play it in like a small apartment?"

"Why does it have grillcloth right there then?"

"So why do they sell them by themselves??"

A few weeks later he bought a drum kit.

Yeah, but it doesn't leave big holes, the screws are small. Plus like I give a shit, that cab is ancient, made from an old solid-state combo.

Filtercap - haven't recorded with it yet, but I seriously doubt I will get vibration at the levels I record at. You can tighten it very secure either way and a lot of bands use these for live work.

Cool, yeah I was looking at these for live usage because sometimes it's too cramped and a whole mic stand sucks ass.
