I was at an acoustic jam/open mic thing tonight and heard the best noise ever. It was a kind of irish folk type band with mando, fiddle, bass, percussionist, and a singer. (the violinist sang some 2)
Anyways, the mando player was playing one of the tacoma mandolins but was running it through a pedal board. First, he was using a wah....Sounded interesteing if strange a little bit (he only did it for a few seconds) Then on one song he used some light overdrive for chords in a chorus section. Again, a small portion of a song and it worked really well. Then the hammer drops. Full on big muff as well as a digitech whammy (vintage one) Not sure what the hell he was doing, but it was in a huge build up as far as the band was going. It was some really crazy noise that was huge and beautiful... Very surprising to say the least.
Makes me want to go buy a big muff (even though I am not a fan of fuzz personally for what I do as a rhythym player) and a whammy to make some noise. (not going to do it either way....)

I'm often more interested in things doing things they're not supposed to.
If you buy a product, take it home, and it does exactly what it said it would, then you've got what you were promised.
If you buy a product, take it home, and it does something fucked up when do things it is not intended for, then that's a cool surprise, and you've got something extra (BONUS).
