Do you whammy?
Just wondering how many of you use your whammy bars? Lately Fredo's been teaching me some My Bloody Valentine methodology on the jazzy and it's been pretty fun. Otherwise, I usually just take it off and pull some Sonic Youth rubdown shiet with it.
Any other fun things to do with your whammy bar?

i love the trem,
i use it in any and all fashions, the mbv style is fun altho i don;t use it regularly.
on a regular basis im doing shimmerz and light dips and sweeps. and for certain tunes i use a very voilent method of using the trem, basically grab the bar and jerk and yank uncontrollably sometimes moving the guitar itself.
WHAMMY FTW!

I defnitly use it on Stratocaster. Not for divebombs or stranglings (usually), but for shimmerz & dips like Robert was saying, plus subtle pitch-shifts, volume stutters, and for increasing sustain on a note. There's other cool stuff like bending up into a note, doing a little whammy dip or pull, and then releasing the note at almost the same time for a little 3- or 4-note run. Bent double-stops (sorta pedal-steely stuff) can sound cool with a little trem bar too. I pull up on the bar about as often as pushing down, so my Strato bridge is set up "floating" in the middle. That's the only whammified guitar I have.
That's the sort of stuff I like doing, I'm an aggressive player, so when I'm using a whammy, I tend to throw the gutiar around quite a bit.Doog wrote: WEEEOoOOOOOOHMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm
I really enjoy hitting harmonics on several strings and messing about with the whammy bar. I'd also use a kill switch whilst doing this for some cool effects that sound nearly vocal, or maybe it just sounds like th clangers.
never touched the whammy on my jag, and my jag-stang vibrato tailpiece is locked.
But my yamaha RGX321 has a floyd rose, so yeh used to use the whammy when playing live, to sustain notes at end or in middle of a solo. and sometimes to add a bit of shimmer to single chords.
But overall, i mostly dont bother.

On the ones where I lockdown the strat trem, I still do whammy style sonds by bending that fucking neck.
