gfs p-90's

Post by robert(original) »

someone asked about these somewhere, i got a set for my jaguar and today, i was going a lil stir crazy(my router is acting weird)
so i decided to throw the gfs in the bridge postion of my telecaster.
the neck p-90 is a 15 dollar mighty might, i love it! best pup ever
the gfs bridge was 33 plus shipping. i only played it for about 20 mins, just to check it thru different settings.
my initial thought was. "finally i have a bridge pickup that can rival the output of the p-90"
but really it just sounds like a weaker p-90, great definition thought, but not enough balls and clarity,
its a good buy, for sure, but i would recommend the mighty might p-90 becuz its cheaper and in my opnion "it brings the beef"

Yeah, I am not over the top in love with mine in the bronco Jr either. At first I has wiring issues, so was holding off having a real opinion. Now it does seem a little weaker than the p90's I have played before.

Gave my Ibanez the punch it needed.

For the price you can't go wrong.

True. In my case it may also be the difference in a smaller body, different scale, type of bridge, and the fact that it is a brdge p90 and I have alot mroe tendency to play on the neck or both on most of my guitars. It still sounds good though and for the price it is not bad at all.

but see the mighty might p-90 sounds MUCH better,
i used them in the archtop i built last summer, and that wierd contour guitar i made a year ago or so.
they sound amazing in both of those, and the pup in my tele neck position is a mighty might p-90 also sounds amazing, the gfs, realyl does lack something essential.
but its still way better than a humbucker or normal strat single coil

Cheers Robert. I'm still looking for a P90 to put into the Tele I'm building. I want to put in a Bare Knuckles BK90 but I'll need to wait for the cash.

No. Do not make a guard for me. Not until I pay you. I've got to play around with a custom shape too.

Yeah I do. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the basswood one. It's actually heavier than the ash bound body, but it is also thicker by a good bit. I might use it to build a gift guitar.

Haha. I was really wasted. The other post was a sober Sloan trying to decipher the DRUNKEN CODE.

no output problems on my guitar, but both the neck & bridge or gfs, so that probably helps. i do have to say, though, i haven't noticed them lacking on clarity or requiring me to be louder.

Dammit, I don't see any P-90 action on the Mighty Mite website.

I have some mighty mite p-90s. they really are great. I think what makes them have so much more bite is the ceramic magnets. gfs are alnico.

I got them from this ebay store which I highly recommend.
