i dare not take it apart, yet!! so unsure who wound them, but they are custom shop 60's pickups so the could be. all i know is no squeal and shit loads of sustain, i but 11's on strat style guitars. havent had a guitar with a trem on it since i got rid of my burns brian may, waggledance lol.benecol wrote:I had one of those and loved it - very nice! I especially enjoyed that you can drop a tension spring down before you screw the trem in (there should be one in your case candy, if not pester the dealer) so the arm stays where you put it. Check the back of the p'ups - if they're marked "AY" then they were made (sort of) by the same lady who wound Hendrix's p'ups. MOJO!
(I expect Hurb can tell the difference between AY and non-AY wound p'ups x)
didnt get a tension spring with the arm, will pester my dealer when i go back for my tiny terror next week.

there so much better than the bog standard MIM guitars, they really are just as good as the american standard, plus they feel very 60's retro.Mike wrote:That's awesome. Same price as a Baja Telecaster. You got a lot of guitar for the money there.

i tried a MIJ tele once, what a lovely guitar, really well built and sounded wicked.Mike wrote:I love Japanese Fenders as much as I love Mexican Fenders, I think they're brilliant. It's really hard to find any information on the origin of the MG65.

i think my strat is the nearest i'll get to the beatles strats they used on rubber soul. not for the beatle so much, more the tasty sonic blue rosewood strats they had.

It's all a bit MOJO!!!!! bullshit really - she was the pickup winder who would've done Hendrix's p'ups, and she's due to retire anytime now, so a set of CS 69s with her sig on them (even though this just means she checked them, not wound them) are only going to go up in value.
And they do sound ace, don't they?

I don't really like strats, but I remember falling in love with one of these gutiars in a shop before. It's when I was working, so I had monies.
It was second hand, and the nut was damaged, probably needing replaced. They had it marked for three fifty (?!?), which I thought was ridiculous.
I stood around for about fifteen minutes trying to engage in a bout of haggling, but they weren't having any of it and kinda ignored me, so I left broken hearted.

i think what i have learnt, is not so much how much you pay for it or what brand it is, just dont sell yourself short, get what you really want.
still waiting for a black/gold anodized jazzmaster, then i'll die happy.

Yeah I have a black/tort, but I'm very tempted by the prospect of gold anodized, but I don't really wanna be spending any money on aesthetic junk at the moment cause I'm recording at the end of the month yay!Progrockabuse wrote:still waiting for a black/gold anodized jazzmaster, then i'll die happy.
