Cakewalk comes with a tuner VST that has a Strobe mode. I never use it.

whats cakewalk like? i want something i can use to catch ideas down on. logic and pro tools are more for hardcore recording sessions. i just want something i can use as a notepad as it were.

how much is that strobo vst? it's gotta be cheaper than an actual strobostomp

Audacity is super quick, free and easy for such things, I use it as a sketchpad for ideas and stuff.

arrgh true bypass!!!!

i think for studio use it might be cool and cheap. the hardware ones are fecking exspensive.

there's a guy i know that's in some indie art rock band and he uses a laptop for is fx/amp sim/tuner/etc, he thinks its the muts nuts, until it crashes mid song and has no backup plan.

The strobostomp is only like $2-300, by the time you buy 2-3 pedal tuners, you could have that one.

Honestly, the Peterson strobe tuners are simply amazing. They work very differently than just a "strobe mode" on a boss or planet waves tuner.

I have a Dean Markley PT-13. It gets the job done, but not near as quick and precise as a peterson.

for me, when it comes to being "precise" i think that the boss tu-2 i and everyone in my band uses works perfectly. we are always in tune with each other too so thats especially important.

You mean the "sweetened tunings"? I haven't tried so I won't knock it, but I am beyond happy with my trusty Korg DT-10. That shit is VISIBLE on a stage in any lighting conditions, and tunes well to my ears. Plus Doog has one.

Aye, works fine for me all oveeer the country.

I guess strobe tuners excel at stuff like intonation and such.. although we all know a guitar can never be 100% perfectly in tune. Well, until Mr Buzz Feiten gets his way.

Plus I play a 3 saddle Tele now. With 11s it's close as darn it, but I don't have individual adjustment and I don't really care to be honest. I thought it would bother me but with the right gauge you can get it inaudibly close.

And I guess you're pretty much a "lowest 7 frets" kinda guy, which would make it even less of an issue.

yeah, with 11's theres nothing really noticable with a 3 saddle tele bridge.

i have a tu-2 thats served me well, but the dt-10 just look snazzier to me, i'd like one in that bronzy kinda finish like those case aen uses on TGD'S

i've just blocked of the trem on my strat, not really a whammy bar man
