duo sonic bridges
Hail shortscalers!, i'm checking to see if there is any interest in having new, period correct ('65-'66 etc...) duo sonic/musicmaster bridges manufactured. Check the topic "duo sonic bridges" in the Short Scales forum and post your thoughts there. Cheers to ya!!!

I'm sorry about the multiple posts-i've never actually been in a forum group before and i didn't know that it would be considered spam. When i looked at the names on the different forums there seemed like quite a few different ones and i'm actually trying to do people a favor by generating enough interest so we could bring the manufacturing costs down on a product that seemed to be desired by some of the people here. I don't stand to make anything off of this proposition-i'm not affiliated with Callaham guitars. As a matter of fact, in my Short Scales post (which has been deleted) i offered to pay postage to and from Bill Callahams machine shop if anyone had an original style duo sonic II ('65-'66 etc...) bridge plate laying around and would be willing to send him so we can get exact specs because i'm not sure if my "toronado" bridge plate leads to too much guesswork. The whole reason i'm trying to do this stems from my dissappointment with Allparts sending me what was labeled a "duo sonic" bridge plate only to recieve what i come to find is a "toronado" bridge plate. No one to my knowledge is making any of the original styled plates (and i looked). The toronado has also been discontinued and even Allparts is completely out (i think Angela Instruments has a few left-but then what?). My toronado plate has 5 mounting holes like the mid '90s re-issues but it also has 6 holes drilled through the bottom of the plate for "string-through" applications so i don't know if the 6 holes drilled through the back of the plate for the six individual saddles are the correct size and spacing for "top-loader" applications. So bottom line, if we're going to do something why not do it all the way-seven mounting holes, no holes in the bottom of the plate, correct string hole spacing/sizing for top loading, and the three holes for the original barrel saddle design? He would probably even use better steel than Fender. If i've offended anyone because of multiple posts-i throw myself upon the swords of doom. If anyone is interested in getting together on this please post on this forum. I've already sent my plate to him to "reverse engineer" and he will give me a quote soon.Cheers to you all and again, sorry for any offense.

Hey Shortscalers- it is a "no go" from Warmoth (they actually checked here to see if there was any interest and finding none told me this issue was a non-starter) and U.S.A. Custom Guitars said it was an interesting proposition but he has gone through a couple of CNC guys and can't do mustang/duo sonic bodies right now. Both Ken from Warmoth and Tommy from U.S.A. are nice folks though! Bill Callaham at Callaham Guitars said the older ('58-'63) duo/musicmaster bridges would in fact be cost effective to manufacture so,if anyone is interested in those, contact him.
