I read back about 5 pages didn't see anything.
Sorry if this has already been covered.

I need a practice amp.
My Marshall at 60w tube is just too loud and I can't get a tone I like at a lower volume.
Don't feel like spending a bunch of money as it is just going to sit in this one particular room for rehearsal

Which would you recommend/buy and why?

I have the Vox AD50VT and its kind of cool.. I like the 'present amps' (like ac15, ac30 etc) and sometimes the built in effects are not bad, but I dont use them a lot.. But I myself am looking in an little tube amp direction, like Epiphone Jr, or Fender Champion..

The vox is the clear winner here - it has the best models of any you listed and will probably be loud enough to do rehearsals or act as a spare if you need it.

Whatever you do, don't get a Marshall MG series or a Line 6 amplifer. These are rules to live by. Seriously.

Also, I always say this, but I can't stress it enough... Look around at used stuff and you can probably get a sweet tube combo for $250-300!

Is this practise at home or with a drummer?

If you're playing at home the Vox AD30VT (not the new wanky one with UberMetal sounds) is a wonderful amp - it won't keep up with a drummer but it will give you a great array of sounds at home, and they record really well.

Line 6 amps have always sucked when ive played them. Vox gives great sounds, but if you can afford it consider Fender Super Champ XD.

The Vox has better features than the Fender.

1. Three programmable sounds (two presets and the manual state of the knobs) which can be footswitched between vs the Fender's two (and one of them has to be clean)

2. Wider range of Amp Models (and the Fender and Vox ones in particular are awesome).

3. Wider range of Effects and Combinations of Effects, with Tap Tempo etc.

4. Power attenuator to get great sounds at very low volumes.

5. Each sound can have it's own EQ setting saved to it, unlike the Champ.

meh - to me more effects = more fiddling. I like Fender where its just chorus or flange or delay - no fiddling with knobs.

Attenuator is a killer feature. But the Voxs apparent cant handle pedals well, due to how they do their modelling.

Soundwise not sure which is better, but worth trying the Fender.

Fuck not having flexibility. the Vox Effects have 3 adjustable parameters each.

yea, and the effects are pretty good.
But its pretty hard to switch between them.
Okey I wont spam here any more, but I like the Vox.

(dont trust line6, and marshall is bad, Ive played it)

wtf does that Vox need a power attenuator for. haha. it has like one fucking tube in it that doesn't do anything.

And the tube is strange, I tried to pull it out.. but it didnt come out.. So that is just a "cosmetic" tube.. haha..
(maybe I need to use my hulk side to get it out, but maybe it isnt meant to be taken out.)

* and the power aturureuarntor is cool, cause I can put it to 25w and play normally, the sound doesn't fade or sound like shit..
I think that function is quite useful, for me at least..

Actually it does. It's used to model the power amp response of a tube amp. If you open up the Master and dial back the attenuator you can definely get the spongy dynamic response of a valve amp simulated.

full band Mike....just the room is small.

currently it's up to 510 + 50 s&h

if I go for this though (bidding ends tomorrow) I'd sell my Marshall

They're great amps, those early Mesas. it won't be cheap though.

Have you also looked at Traynors? They're very affordable and great amps in the US.
