You have 14 hours to talk me out of buying a Tiny Terror...

GO! I realise that this is almost the shortscale signature amp, but unless you've got a very good reason for me not to buy one (or are selling something very tasty around the £350 mark) I'm going to buy a TT tomorrow (my eBay jedi mind trick worked like a charm once again). Pairing it up with a closed back 1x12 with a Vintage 30 (as soon as I've got mine, I'll let you know where I got it from - it's a UK made cab, with a Vintage 30 in it for less than £80 - that's even better than the Harley Benton isn't it?).

I hold this forum almost entirely responsible for my gear cull and this purchase.

TT has no reverb - reason enough for me.

Not an issue for me - two delays on my board and it gives me an excuse to buy another reverb pedal.

Next!

(thanks, by the way, don't want to appear rude).

they sound shit and are used by child killers only. also I heard you can grow boobs on your head if you play through one long enough.
they also smell of urine when you turn em on. and give you electric shocks....and you will always know in your heart even though it says orange...its not really an orange. so you will probably end up on heroine and end up dead in a crack house in cornwall after a surf related rape.

reason enough?

this is true. but it's still neat.

i want to try that crate 'blackheart' 15/7 watt amp. more tonal options.

the thing i hate about the tiny terror is the 'tone' knob. i want more control without having to shove an EQ pedal in front.

I found it tonally limited, with no usable clean sound.

I have ears of tin, and the fact it only has one tone knob means I'll only find getting a nice sound 1xdifficult rather than 3xdifficult. Hurb, you just make me want one more you big lug.

The Blackheart is more versatile and also a good bit cleaner (though quieter at 15 watts) compared to the TT.

Though granted, I did try these two on different days with different guitars, so nothing scientific here.

It seriously lacks clean headroom.

Also £300 is alot for an amp with such basic controls. My Marshall DSL201 was only £250 and has two great channels each with 3 EQS and gain. volume, reverb. For £300 you could get a Marshall DSL401. You're baically trading features for portabilty - but how much you gonna carry it around? If you're pairing with a 1x12 cab and pedals couldn't you just get a beautiful one channel fender amp??

Also have you actually played one in real life?

I heard one in a guitar shop, yeh sounded good but i wasn't bown away. If i were going for a 1 channel amp at that price i'd want the best damn clean sound ever. Also this amp NEEDS a series effects loop, so you could add your own EQ and reverb pedals before the power stage. Dunno, i see it as quite limited.

See, now I'm a little unsure. Reverb and loop really not an issue, closed back pretty much is and 12" speaker definitely is. Anyone care to recommend anything else (or say: we were only joking, buy the TT)?

sorry didnt mean to kill your mojo.

I'm sure Mike would have a strong opinion on this, but he's gone on holiday. Howver it's likely other TT owners will pip in and counter all my points. I think the deal with the TT is its simple and just sounds good - and thats what matters, the tonez. Oh and it helps that its ridiculously tiny.

You haven't really said how you'll be using it (bedroom, band or both?) and what kinda music you play. Maybe that'll help us.

Tiny Terrors are awesome.

All the controls work extremely well so you can get great tones out of it.

The gain is awesome.

The clean headroom is limited, but I play in a band with one a a rhythym player.
If you want brilliant clean fender tones it will not do it at a full band volume level.

If you don;t mind just s touch of color to your clean tone from the amp then it will be fine for most band situtation.

I reccomend getting a cabinet that has high speaker rating instead of like a v30 as the higher watt speakers will give you more headroom. (as will single coil guitars) I ran mainly teles though mine with a Avatar cab with 2 75 watt eminence tonkers. I had plenty of room on the gain and the volume to get any tone I really needed.
They say great minds think alike....Sometimes we do too...

Why oh why oh why do people continue to come into these threads and post "Why don't you spend the money on a Fender?" when most Fender amps, even the PJr. are NOTHING like a Tiny Terror. Not comparable!!! I've got 2x Fender amps, a '67 Champ and a '63 Vibroverb RI that I love dearly, each one in a different way and NEITHER of them are capable of doing anything like what the TT does so damned well.

Better question: why do I let these threads wind me up?
