JazzStang -- should I do it?

Post by Aeon »

So what do you think? Hideous? Awesome?

I have three colors. The lightest one is what is used on an AVRI. The others are aftermarket replacement covers. Because the guitar is already a cream color, I think that would look the best. Also, for all you purists out there, the guitar I'm considering hacking at is a 69RI, so it's not like I'd be ruining a vintage piece.

I love Jazzmaster pickups. They kick all kinds of ass imo. This is the guitar I built over the summer that made me fall in love with them.

Totally cool. Although if it were mine, I would go with the cream pickup covers, and a 3 way toggle and a new pickguard to fit it.

I have a 3-way toggle with a cream tip too. I dunno about buying a new pickguard just for that one piece, but yeah... I would redo all the wiring so that it's a 3 way switch, with maybe one mini-toggle acting as a kill switch. And definitely swap in some 1Meg pots.

Agreed that it looks cramped, but it's not really any different from how a Jazzuar looks. The short scale really condenses things.

It's way too cramped and looks a bit silly. You shouldn't do it.

Hit it on the head. Something I'd like to try, but not really to my taste :)

P90s may look cooler, although I can appreciate they don't sound the same.
