Pot question

Post by benwalker »

no... not that sort of pot....

My torres thingy arrived today - Super Midrange push-pull switch pot to add mid cut on to my almost bitser strat. Just looking at it though and at the top of the pot (where you'd expect it to mount flush with the pickguard) there's a small metal protruding thing at the top, just next to the threading.

is this meant to come off? i tried building a DOD 440 once before and the pots had similar things: i ended up padding the gap with velcro until reading somewhere that they should be cut off with pliers or similar...

can add a photo if needed.

You can just bend them ..or take 'em off.It doesn't affect the pot at all.

yeah, what he said.
every now and again they are nice to have becuz it anchors the pot in place, but its not going to affect it if you take it off.

awesome.

pot now acts like a mid scoop for anything less than 5, and a mid boost for anything more than 5.
or...... pull the knob out (push/pull switch) and it's back to a normal tone control... of course having knurled chrome knobs and no centre-notch on the pot means that judging where '5' is could be tricky. Might have to use the allen-key screw thing as a marker...
