If you cut the neck pocket on the guard then the bridge holes will not be in th eright place.

yea, but check it out, the bridge holes are not in the right place.

the whole guard is shifted down because the neck pocket is too high.

The neck pocket should be 80mm or 3 1/8 inches from heel to the end of the body.

i think cowbell used a warmoth guard and it fit perfectly, and i have used an allparts jap guard and it fit perfectly.

I don't remember where I got it from but it's a WD guard. I couldn't find a black Fender made one (unless I wanted to spend $100 for an original '70s one).

Your eyes aren't off. The pickup covers are. They're just sitting in there loose. That's why they're not lined up properly.

I'm happy with it. I got everything to fit now (for the most part) and the extra holes I put in for the bridge posts will be covered by the bridge.

UPDATE:

The body is on day 29 of a 45 day curing process. (I just randomly chose 45 days) While I was waiting I figured I would finish the neck so here it is:

I used the ReRanch neck amber. At first I thought it was too yellow but it's grown on me and I like it now.

I had a couple sand throughs that I sort-of fixed.

Looks pretty good right? Do you foresee any problems? I didn't. (Obviously) Take a closer look:

Also, does anyone know where I can get some pickup screws for the JM pups? I've ordered some from PartsIsParts months ago and they're waiting on Fender to send them some. I checked out this page that robroe linked to.Anyone know if any of these would work? Thanks for any help and letting me bitch.

Dude, that neck looks AWESOME.

It sucks about the string tree, but in all honesty, it's not noticeable unless someone is looking for it. It still looks fucking cool!

I got my JM pickup screws from GuitarPartsResources.com... they work perfectly.

Seeing the pics of your JM is making me jones to paint my own JM project... but right now my balcony has about 100 plants on it, which I can't bring inside because the cat will treat them like a salad bar. FOOK! I need a back yard or a garage...

Thanks. I bought them off a guy at offset. Occasionally they come up on the bay. There might be a set up now.

I'm pulling my hair out right now. All day Sunday I sanded my ass off. After a few more hours yesterday I finished the copper shielding and wired it all up according to the diagram off the Fender site. Could only hear the rhythm circuit. With the lead selected tapping on the magnets could be heard through the amp as could a giant hum. Checked all my soldering 2 more times. Then wired it up bypassing the rhythm circuit according to a diagram at offset and nothing but a huge hum.

Any ideas of what's gone wrong? I don't have a meter to test shit, (and don't know how to use it if I did) but I do have access to one.

After getting the body from robert(O) and starting this back in October (I think) it's killing me that it's so close to completion and I can't play it.

On the positive side the rhythm circuit sound REALLY good.

are you sure the pots are wired correctly? the diagrams are usually from the bottom up.

Make sure none of the pots and whatnot are touching the copper shielding inside, I had that happen with my mustang and I didn't realise the input jack was touching the shielding.

Also isolate the bridge pickup and check it works and the impedance across it using a multimeter if you can.

This is definitely happening...I'll have to enlarge the cavity. But it still wasn't working even when I tried it with the pickguard separated from the body, sort of like an open hood of an automoblie.

I'll have to get my dad's. Hopefully he brought it home from work. (Or I could just go buy one.) I'm suspecting that this might be the trouble because I bought it off eBay months ago. Already left a positive comment too.

You are doing great, man. I always have to wire a few times to get it right. I can see but no comprendo. I am going to wire my Roberto Stratster like a Tele because the shit I have had the pots flipped so they were both facing north instead of hot they fit into the guitar. Maybe that's right, but it's not what I am used to and it ain't working.
