Matching Headstock mini project
So I got this place to match the paint on my fakeacaster but the "match" seems a bit darker.
Could it be I should have used a white primer as opposed to a gray? Maybe the freaking paint is just darker!! Oh well, that's as good as it gets.
I also got a Tele decal from DCjoe...
I still need sand the edges off a bit then clearcoat i. I will, tomorrow! Paint is a Satin lacquer with an added solvent so it cures faster....
Need some tuners!! Anybody? I got some stuff to trade?

I just called the store and they will do another match. This time it won't be a computer, it'll be the paint guy doing a visual match!
Muahahaha...
Sub I already clearcoated the rest of the neck, with this new stuff I got, is really shiny and smooth. I dont feel like sanding and staining.Tho' I should!

If I had a tele it'd probably look like this.tribi9 wrote:I will go back actually, Its way too dark! Hopefully they'll match it better for free (They should, the paint is visibly darker)
Here's a new pic. I clearcoted it, since the paint dried up pretty quick. 2 coats of color, 2 clear.
Wannnnttt
It even has binging... sigh...
Thx Roachello,
I went to back to NAPA, the place I got the paint from. The paint guy visually matched the color, the new batch looks almost dead on. No charge (As they should).
I got back home and started sanding the old paint from yesterday, but since the clearcoat wasnt fully dry, I got a few little gooey chunks. (Lesson here wait until things fully dry if you need to sand) I think that when I recoat it with the clear, everything will just blend/melt in fine.
Was going to repaint the headstock today but I ran out of primer. So I headed back to NAPA; I wanted white primer, they only had gray and red, but they will have white primer for me tomorrow.
This guys are pretty friendly, have some a tonne of colors in their paint lab (Guy let me in there while he was mixing it, then he pumped it into an aerosol spray thingy) the clear they carry is really glossy and smooth. That's as good as it gets getting for getting paint locally. Wonder if they'll pump paint I bring in, I mean If I ever get a hold of some Nitro....
Sanded back
Gooey flaky dead skin like...
