Let's talk headstocks and decals

Post by rodvonbon »

I dig matching headstocks on guitars, but can't for the life of me figure out why Fender doesn't use white decals instead of black anymore. If they are going to go through the bother of painting it why throw that shitty gold outlined black decal on it? Maybe it's just me and I'm too picky, but every time I see a cool looking RI from Fender they blow it with the decal. Some of the Squires came with white so they can still make them.
Take a look at these and tell me which ones looks like ass.

And my goldtop Warmoth Mustang I put a Fender decal on.

Even the offset script on the reissues bother me. If I could manage to get it right on my own, couldn't they?

Do you really think that?
It's not my intention, just trying to get some guitar conversation going.
Maybe nobody else gives a shit about the topic but me.
I dunno.

That explains the shake in some of those pics.

I tried to find a white script repo logo for my Mustang project but didn't have any luck. Where did you get yours if you don't mind me asking?

It IS quite a collection. I think he's just having you on. I agree, BTW. The decal is such a paltry thing in terms of production, but it has such a big effect.

A board member. I don't know if he checks in too often or if he's even been back since the last big delete.

Yeah, thats what I'm saying. I wonder why they skimp on such a cool touch. It's like a slice of cake with no frosting.

jcyphe has said it time and time again...Fender is the most unoriginal guitar company making guitars today.

Me too. It would look killer over LPB or CAR. It would stand out so much better.

This thread reminds me...

All we need now is a Squier Esquire, prompted by Fender overcoming an obviously silly marketing dilemma.

Something odd here. No trees, just a bush. Or seven.

You can't catch me like that. String doesn't grow on trees.
