Esquire project

Post by inscho »

sooo i was in the middle of my strat project when i stumbled across this tele body:

Image

it's a chambered warmoth body with a nitro finish. it weighs a mere 2 lbs 11 ounces

i tried to talk myself out of it, but the weird half flame was calling my name.

i probably overpaid for it, but i'm in love with the color.

got an allparts TRF neck, nice chunky C, vintage radius:

Image

ordered a bunch of parts off of GPR, and a couple guys here hooked me up with some misc parts. They came in today:

after debating between wiring diagrams, i settled on the standard esquire wiring, but instead of cap resistor set for the preset bass position, i replaced it with a .010 cap whch is supposed to give it a really cool cocked wah sound with distortion.

all i need is the bridge to come in, and i can take it to my tech to get the nut cut for it:

the barrel knobs i had couldn't fit on the thicker CTS shafts, these black witch hats were the only knobs i could find that would fit, but i kinda like them.

it's a little neck heavy, i'm hoping that it will balance out a little more once the bridge is installed. otherwise i might have to weigh the body down somehow.

That's a very unusual body, I like it. I think witch hats look really good on a Tele. I assume you got the neck plate?

yup i love the flathead screws, it's gangsta.

i did, but i like the americana look of the white guard....and when i was doing mock ups, the black guard didn't look that great with the rosewood...i might still buy one to try out, only takes 2.5 seconds to switch them out.

Not bad for a finished chambered body.

Looks really good Inscho, I'm an especially big fan of the black witchhats, a la Muddy Waters. Have you considered flipping the control plate? Still looks just as good, but you can do volume/tone swells with your pinky. Lots of fun...

i had the controls flipped on my last tele, i like having easier access to the selector switch, and the volume pot is still close enough for swells (i have big hands)

OK then - as long as you promise to stick with the amp knobs.
