i just got an old Sylvania 12bz7 from a customer at work for free and replaced the sylvania 12ax7 with it in my Alamo Fury 115 combo.
it basically has same amplification factor (100) of a 12ax7 but half the plate resistance. what ever that means in regular terms
i love this bigger tube, it make my amp sound awesome, almost meaner with more growl and bite . i am recording tonight so i will try to get sounds clips with both tubes, but i blew my speaker last practice and it might not sound very good it's got a buzzing sound now because the speaker , i'm getting a new one next week i hope.

$9.95
not very popular so not much $$, they are cheaper than 12ax7's me thinks. but if you want to try some try at your own risk, you amp might not be able to handle it and blow up or something. it worth doing some research into. but it sounds great.
i'll try to get a 12ax7/12bz7 comparison, sunday if i have a new speaker by then.
