pickup color selection

Post by dawnofzion »

I know most of you here hate les pauls. BUT I am currently building a goldtop les paul and I can't decide if I should go with solid creme pups or zebra pups. I used photoshop to drop these onto a picture of a goldtop guitar. Which do you think looks better?

the body is already routed for buckers so no p-90s. I was going to go with a mean 90 in the neck but not sure yet.

zebra.

did anyone read that interview with seth lover on provide.net? seymour duncan interviewed seth lover, the guy that invented the humbucker. it's pretty interesting. anyway, he said the bobbins are randomly cream or black. they never thought anyone would see them because they put the nickel plated cover over it. the women who would make them would just grab a bobbin randomly from a bin.

That's sort of a weird gold-top color in your mock-up....but for pickup colors I'd say go all black in the bridge and zebra in the neck. That's what Hamer did originally and it looks rad!
