New Dano Cool Cat series is due out tomorrow

Post by Will »

If anyone hasn't been following, it's basically the best selling bits from the Mini and FAB series but with metal jacks, metal cases, and (get this) 3PDT true bypass. I'm probably getting the fuzz ($35) and maybe the Uni-Vibe clone ($60-ish). My ulterior hope is that these will knock the resale value of the minis down to nothing and I can pick up a bunch.

I might get excited and order tomorrow - will do demos if and when this happens, as well as an expose on micro-mini 3PDT switches and their durability...

the vibe sounds pretty much just like the chicken salad... I broke mine out, to see if I wanted to sell it, but uh, yea, it's actually kind of cool, I think I'll keep it. :)

I'll probably still pick up the tremolo, even though I've got the Pulsar- see if it's just a Tuna Melt in armour. Which would be fine by me :D

How do like that Pulsar after playing it a while?

Also somewhat doubting the 3PDTness of these, based on the looks anyway. They might surprise me. Not that I'm a TB snob.

The Pulsar is really neat- the only slightly annoying thing is that the depth kinda does this "reverse phase" thing when you go past about 2 o'clock on the dial- awesome for odd rhythmical sounds, but can make it a little tricky dialing in the deepest normal trem in Square wave mode- I had to mark it with a pen, in fact.

And the fact that only 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock on the speed dial is really usable for standard trem stuff, any lower is ridiculously slow, and any higher gets ring mod stuff. Again, very cool, but it can make it hard to dial in what you want in that small field.

Yeah that's what I was telling you when you bought one - it's on odd pedal - and the Depth thing is annoying I think. Mind you if you want whacked-out trem sounds then it's a winner.

It's always nice to have the options on a pedal to do normal stuff, then go a little bit further, makes it's place in the ol' FX Cove that much more worthwhile.

It doesn't do total on/off tremolo stuff, but gets very close. Anyways, truth be told, I probably won't end up getting the Dano or any other gear, spesh since I'm finishing my job earlier than I wanted to :(

Will no doubt have to hock some gear off if the temp work search goes badly.

That's life Doogster.

I used to say I'd never sell anything after regretting selling a Boss HM-2 pedal to a friend who then quit guitar, but life gets in the way. Sometimes it's just best to sell on what you're not using and can easily replace should you want to. Hence goodbye to several guitars and amps and pedals.

New arrival date unknown - bastards.
The '63 reissues have already been pushed back more then 2 months and now the pedals are going to be late too - same shit that happened last year. The Pro and DC were due out in February but didn't get shipped until September.

I hate the way they're running the company with the guitars. It seems they're just making runs of stuff and when it runs out, that's it. How can anything get a real following if it's just made for a short while.

They're trying to avoid what happened in the late 90s when Evets was running things. If you remember, they had something like 30 models available within 2 years. All the blues guys who wanted one had one within the first 6 months, so they were stuck with a huge overstock that no one wanted. There are still NOS Dano reissues all over the place, even 10 years on. The limited edition thing is smarter, but they've kinda swung to the opposite extreme now.

The 90's stuff was way better and If I'm not mistaken Evets Corporation still owns and operates the Danelectro brand.

I think another company took over the guitars and Evets kept control of the pedals, don't quote me on that though.

The sites I've looked at are currently saying June, "Availability of this item:
shipment due to arrive on 20.06.2008" from Thomann specifically.

Oh, and I fucking want to kill whoever is responsible for naming Dano's pedals

Fabtone distortion. OKAY GUYS LET'S HAVE A "FAB" LINE TOO
Coolcat chorus. OKAY GUYS SAME PLAN AGAIN, LET'S HAVE A RANGE CALLED "COOLCAT" TOO.

If they come up with the "Daddy-O" line, I'm gonna strap hotdogs to my chest and threaten someone at a factory..
