Yeah, set a CE-1 for vibe and you can nauseate dogs a block away, and the Arion SCH-1 is the only other real J-box that can do the good ol' Michael Landau swirlies like that yet maintain remarkable warmth.
eh, i dunno. i dont really think theres a market for a ce-1 reproduction. they dont go for too much on ebay (around $200) and i dont know how cheap we can make them.

They generally go for $200 plus on ebay.
$25 doesn't even cover the parts and is well below the original price.
uh huh.
one of em doesnt even work. they were in a junk box and by the looks of things, probably on their way to the dump. he just moved into this new house and was trying to get rid of everything. he didnt care about them and was probably gonna throw them away. im pretty sure my karma is just fine.

Fair enough. That wasn't exactly made clear by your original post. They look fairly mint.
He could have still got $175 more than you paid him for the working one, however.
well, when he pulled them out, they were both dirty as fuck, i spent a fair amount of time scrubbing them. lots of elbow grease! he didnt have an amp or guitar (he gave up music and is an artist now, he paints and stuff) so i couldnt try em out. he said hed had them in storage since the 80's and doesnt know if they work, and theres no guarantees. he then said "so, $25 a piece? no guarantees that they work!"
if he wanted to get any kind of money for them, he would have dug them out, cleaned them off, made sure they worked, and listed them on ebay/craigslist. he didnt cuz he didnt care/want to. it would have been stupid of me to turn down that deal.

im not getting defensive, just explaining myself. kinda lame that i have to.
saying "he could have gotten $175 more than you gave him for the working one" is just, not needed? i mean, duh, he could have. IF i knew it was working, IF he had bothered to clean it up, IF he even cared.

Nah, I would never have given him just £12. I would have told him what he could have made and if he'd not been interested in cleaning them up and fixing the broken one I would have done that and split proceeds 50/50.
I'm not judging you, just correcting you. I've been in that situation, and that's what I did.
cant help but feel a little looked down upon/judged though.
i dunno. im not gonna flip mine for profit. if i do ever sell it, i will give someone a bro deal and take significantly less than i got for it, or trade for something of way less value, just to keep the good vibes goin.
