Bass wiring...

Post by vivadeluxxe »

I've been trying out an old Aria bass that I've acquired from a friend, but when I put it thru a cab last night, it was buzzing and the hardware was live...
I know next to nothing about electronics but I'm assuming it's a bad earth...
I've taken the backplate off and there's nothing that appears disconnected, I also took the bridge off and the earth is in place...
I can't find a schematic for it, but the config is the same as a Fender Jazz...
I know this is a bit unscientific, but does anything look obviously out of place?

The earth connection to the bridge may have come loose.

Get a multimeter and check for continuity between the bridge/strings and the pots and jack sleeve.

I think one of my friends has a multimeter, and fortunately I'm meeting up with him tonight to watch the final, so I'll have a go with it later on...
