Heres how i would wire this sucker...

3 Volume, Each Pickup has its own
In phase, off, Out of phase 3 way for each pickup
Coil Tap on the volume pot for single sound

it just raped my mind!!!!!

i can't even count how many different sounds you can get from this...

anyone care to count

7 combos, 4 of which have out-of-phase option - that's 11

N - S,H
N+M - SH,HH,SS,HS
N+B - SH,HH,SS,HS
M - S,H
M+B - SH,HH,SS,HS
B - S,H
N+M+B - HHH,SHH,SSH,SSS,HSH,HSS,SHS,HHS

11 + 26 = 37; plus the blending with the volume knobs

Tone knobs? If you still want three volumes, you could go for concentric controls.

And it needs a built-in Fuzz Face.

i would buy a normal pickguard and drill three holes to save forty bucks or whatever they're charging.

fuzz face would be too legit

and about concentric volume+tone controls, you would lose the coil tap... unless you could wire some mustang style switches to do that

I've played guitars with similar configs. The Schecter ultra III comes to mind. It's cool having that tonal control but honestly half the settings end up sounding identical to each other. Just give me 2 really really good diverse sounds out of a guitar, maybe 3 if I'm lucky. That's all I need.

I used this. I added a blending coil tap on the third potentiometer for the humbucker

$32, plus you get the pots, the switches and the jack for free too. Guitar Fetish are fantastic value. Plus, the pickguard is specifically designed so there isn't a slide switch gap like you'd get on a normal pickguard.

i see what you're saying about the slide switch gap, i missed that before... but you can get alpha pots and switches for about 50 cents, that's not such a great freebie.

Most people don't have access to machines that will cleanly cut those holes in any convenient manner. If one's buying a pickguard anyway, this is far from a bad deal.

What Sublimedo said. Plus, for the "average guitarist" who isn't so aware that pots and switches are available outside of guitar manufacture and are available very cheaply, it's still a bargain I'd say. We need more companies who are willing to actually offer a little bit more than stock, overpriced pickguards. Guitar Fetish are vastly underrated.

machines that cut holes? like a hand drill? if you're worried about bevelling and getting a 100% perfect hole that nobody will ever actually see because it will be hidden by the part, then you should definitely buy a pre-cut guard. i prefer to diy things like this.

i was not putting down GFS as a whole - i buy stuff from them all the time. no need to get so defensive, guys. yes, they do have great prices in general. i'm going to order more b-grade pickups made in korea from them very soon, it's totally awesome.
