Treble Bleed circuit on my sheraton

Post by mewithoutus »

i forgot to take pictures, but it was bloody hard.

i had to wrap wire around the pot shafts so i could guide them back into place. getting them out was hard.

i had to take the entire wiring harness out THROUGH THE F HOLE. eff that.

lots of cursing, but it was a success. the sheraton sounds WAY better now, mostly because it will retain the highs when i turn the volume down, and i can now blend the neck and bridge pickups togehter to taste without worrying about the muddyness.

it pretty much breathed new life into my sheraton. im glad i did it.

i wired a 0.001uf cap across the wiper and hot lugs on the neck and bridge volume pots. the pots in the sheraton are 500ks, obviously.

a couple mods i looked at involved wiring a resistor in parallel with the cap. that seems dumb because it would change the taper of the pot. wtf. weird.

anyway, success.

i love my sheraton.

There needs to be a version of that minus the "without pics" section.

It would be a killer burn.

No, not for this thread. I'm impressed you got it done - some pictures would have been good, but the whole operation boggles me. even with preparation it seems like a massive pain in the arse.

oh man, it was a collossal pain in the ARSE.

i was going to take photos, but when i started i just got so frustrated i ditched the idea.

i have to install those GFS split humbuckers when i get them, and i will do a full photo thing with that. i will cover the treble bleed mod at that time as well. im hoping to get started on that before the end of this week (or whenever my GFS buckers get here).
