the mexi is gonna be triple stained black walnut. (boring rosewood board...should i try to block it? (i dont have a router... lol.. im not really sure how to do this anyway) maybe down to line..
so im almost through with the body sanding (horns are left to do).. and there is still some of that sealer shit--do i need to sand all that off too?
so how should i do this project? do i need to use a filler before i stain it? i plan on doing it the same way i did my floors- 3 coats stain, 3 coats poly, sanded inbetween and steel wool 0000 the shit out of it... want a vintage look.
the guitar was black with white guard (WBW to be more specific) with black pick ups and SWEET black knobs (from my univox --vintage gloss black thin tall top hat knobs).
shall i black guard it and black pick ups again, or do black guard and some diff pick ups (soaps, buckers, p90s, dano styles? or something funky?
the guitar is supposed to just look old...and well loved. its a 96 mexi (not the standard..which is weird... it has righty keys on it, which i will be changing at somepoint if i put sperzels on the USA with the laces..
originally, i was going to relic the guitar becuase over the years it has seen some not so good treatment, stickers, pick ups twist wired in etc... ssparkle fingernail polish over body... and it kept looking like a beaten up guitar, not a well played well worn guitar..(was going for the joe strummer tele look...)and i just couldnt take it anymore and decided i wanted it to match the house...ha!
walnut strats?any pics? and NEEWB finishing advice needed..
