Typical capacity of the CR2032, the 20mm dia 3.2mm thick 3V lithium cell, is 200-250 milliamp hours. Typical capacity of an alkaline 9V battery is 600-750 milliamp hours. Assuming you use a pair/stack of button cells rather than wasting power in a DC-DC converter, typically you'll be replacing your button cells 3 times as often.
