I like em both! Both iterations are sweet. The latest is almost more believable, but the blue was tasty too. What did you do to smear the sides?

that was just the lacquer burning and melting with the blue, made a sort of "unintentional" tye dye effect.
i guess you could say that they tried polishing it with lacquer thinner(i made up a whole story, fake history and all)
if i could figure out a way to control it then i would try some tye dye stuff...... err maybe not.

well, if i can find someone with a video camera i will definitly do a demo.
here is the fake history(i put a bulliten up on myspace that was the same.)

""its 1966, a guy named fred buys a fender 12 string, becuz he can't afford the desirable rickenbacker 12 string of the time.
he got it in standard sunburst but then sent it back to the factory for a custom re-finish in lake placid blue.
(this was fairly common)
after a few years fred decides he is going to paint his guitar white, and since he plays out alot the blue paint has started to wear.
flash foward to 1996 when fred gives his guitar to his son, his son also gigs out and plays very frequently and its from 96- now that they guitar reall takes on all the ciggarette smoke from the 70's 80's and 90's and the battle scars are true badges of honor!
now its modern day and freds son sells the guitar, to me.""
and then i showed some pics and said something like "it was all i a lie, its a vintage neck but i made the rest or something like that"
