I am not saying your guitars aren't "totally awesome". I was just wondering where these were made.

I have to agree with Ekwatts. All the forums I've seen these mentioned on, at least one fool asks where they're made. Why does that matter? Really, why does it?

Another thing that's annoying me is the people who keep saying "OMG SQUIREE IS PWNIN' FENDER FENDER SUCKS BALLZ LoL!", or words to that effect. Squier is Fender, this is Fender clearly concentrating on the Squier side of things for the time being, and it's really working. It's hardly like Squier and Fender are competing.

So if you owned a, I dunno... a new U.S.A. made Jaguar you'd have no problem trading out right it for one of these? there's obviously a difference in parts an build quality. It's not to say that these aren't great guitars but where they are built does matter, any fool knows that a Fender Stratocaster made in Japan is superior to one made China.

Now, I own a Chinese knock off Les Paul, it's every bit as good as a real Les Paul, but that's only because the people at Gibson have no say in it. if they did they'd force them to use cheaper woods and cut corners to justify the difference in price.

It's the name of the series and the price that dictates how good it is. I don't decide whether to buy a guitar or not depending where it was made. The Fender "Standard" series of "Mexican" guitars aren't that good in my opinion, but the Fender "Classic Series" '72 Telecaster Deluxe, also made in Mexico is something else. Mike can probably justify that the "Classic Player" series from Mexico is also very good. So is it really fair to generalise Mexican guitars either way? No. I say make your opinions based on what Fender is saying about the guitar, not by foolish prejudices. This "Classic Vibe Series" I am confident to buy regardless of where they're made, simply by the reputation alone, and the pricetag.

Hey Hey Hey!

Agreed the Mexican ones are hit and miss... but, in all cases I have seen the Chinese and Indonesian Fenders have been crap. Sure, if I can find one, I'll play one... and this could always be the Chinese or Indonesian Squire that breaks the losing streak.

I had a Squier Telecaster Custom II, and it was absolutely incredible. The sheer amount of compliments on the neck alone were enormous. Did it have such a good neck because it was built in Indonesia? Was it the one that got away, before Squier managed to make the neck shit because it hadn't been constructed in the USA? Sorry, the place the guitar was made has no bearing on its relative worth and playability.

I have two MIM Fender Telecasters. They're excellent. I've played Fender Japan guitars that are similarly great. The American Series is nice, I played an American Standard Stratocaster the other week a guy had had bought for him by his family for his 60th. It was a very nice guitar? Was it better than my Baja Telecaster? Nope. Was it worth the £500 more it costs? Not to me.

What annoys me is the way people flash all this shit around to either prove or disprove an items relative worth. I have a camera. It's a very good camera. It's made in China. Wouldn't I look foolish if I threw a strop and demanded a camera made here in Britain? Especially considering how good that camera already is. Why on earth would I want to have one made in Britain and pay an extra 50% when it will be just the same anyway?

holy shit!
If any of you guys remember, I wrote squier a letter about them doing a vintage version of the old duo sonic and mustang guitars. They told me they were going to pass it on to their marketing department and if they liked it, it would be on the market in about 3 years.

damn :D

I'm seriously shitting my pants over this duo and that new sonic blue 60's p-bass!! I am probably going to be buying both of these as soon as they come out! I want a sonic/daphne blue p bass to throw the SD quarter pound pickup that I have in my shitty epiphone p bass into. I cannot wait for these to come out!!!

WOW! THAT IS SO EPIC, IM TOTALLY BUYING ONE! Fender has been keeping it really classy lately, whats the deal? New jazzies, jags, and now a squire re-issue Duo(in the hottest combo ever(desert sand with a gold guard). Fender as of late = win.

EDIT* I *Just* looked at the bass, and im want one of those aswell! Thats a hot (HAWT) looking bass. +2 Fender!

This is all true. Squier and now Fender have been pulling these awesome guitars out on us for some time now. Obviously, the most recent awesomeness that I can think are the Squier '51 and the Telecaster P-bass with a wide range humbucker in the neck position. That thing was fucking sweet. With Fender doing what it should have done years ago with churning out Jags and Jazzies from their Mexican factories, the release of this Duo-Sonic means that there's never been a better time to be a fan of short scale guitars. And it just makes sense to produce a Duo reissue through Squier, considering it was originally conceived as a "student" guitar. But I just love those colours, it adds a real air of class to the proceedings. We should all buy two each, and brand them the official SS.org guitar.
