Proco BRAT

Anyone have any experience with this pedal?

Won it on ebay yesterday - was cheap (Â£16). Hoping it sounds a bit like my TurboRAT, but opinions seem to be divided on the interweb.

i have tried one before, it's not the best pedal in the world, but usable. the casing is a bit flimsy and sound wise can sound a little tinny/screehcy.

Yeah, what he said. kinda sounds like a DS-1 if i remember correctly.

so, the BRAT arrived today. first off the housing is quite sturdy but the switch isn't mechnical - its just a button, like the switches on behringer pedals! so cheap! also no 9v adapter socket (luckily the seller included a battery) and no LED! argh!

soundwise, yup it's closer to my Boss DS-2 than my Turbo RAT. its definitely very musical and usable though, and i didnt find it tinny/scratchy at all, even with the tele on bridge pickup - you just gotta work the tone control. only played it quite queitly though, might be different at gig volumes.

Distortion on low is quite nice and clean, distortion up high adds loads more bass (bit like turbo RAT) but doesn't add much compression. nice addition to my pedals i reckon, can now give the ds-2 back to my friend.

You need to drill small hole in the case (if you do it on the edge it only needs to be wire thickness, otherwise it'll have to allow one of the connectors through) and get one of these

And by edge I mean open it up, and do it on an edge that would normally join another.
