It's just some boring sounds I'm afraid, I'm too hot, irritated and tired to dangle or affix my webcam to something and attempt a video.

OLC Chunky Cheese kit assembled by Euan
Jazzmaster > CC > Marshall DSL50 + 2x12 cab

0:00 - 0:11 - Tone bypass mode
0:11 - 0:47 - Mid cut mode
0:47 - 1:55 - Mid boost mode
1:55 - finish - Gated mode

Essentially, the gated mode is the same as the mid boost, with a gated effect towards the end of the gain pot- the threshold set by a internal trim pot.

I'm guessing the mid boost/cut works via a resistor/cap change- the frequency the tone control governs is a lot higher in the mid cut mode, and the lower honkier mids in the boost mode. The tone control at 0 sounds the same in both modes- 1:40 on the sample, I sweep the tone control in both modes a few times. Tone bypass sounds basically the same as the midboost mode with the tone at 5 or 6 - just a wee bit too bright and inflexible for my liking.

Only complaint is that I wish the gain control swept down lower- even on 0, it's a pretty damn dirty tone.

Big fanks to Euan for getting this together for me, it's real good fun, and nice to have a dirty fuzz to fart around with.

Fucking awesome as always made. Loving the Booster (obviously), and that Chunky Cheese sounds nasty as hell or thick and chunky as hell. It's a pretty versatile box of fuzz.

Glad you like the CC. I'm building like 8 or so of those right now. And, by right now, I mean when I'm done wit this musty...

I like it lots. Wish there was a bit more low end on the lower fuzz settings but it's still usable.

I've also come to the conclusion that the RAT2 is still the best distortion/OD for me.. I was messing around with the True Grit, then went back to the RAT and went WOOAH I LIKE THE SONDS even on the little Zoom amp.

Gotta pick me up a Deucetone at some point, it's gotta be the holy grail for me really.

Yeah, I think you're a RAT man for life to be honest.

Are Deucetones quite pricey? Get an Ebay Search going. I love the switchability on those.

None on Ebay at the mo, they go for like £150 new. I guess I may as well just buy another RAT and maybe put some switchable mods in.. or maybe even make my own, they don't look too complex.

Yeah they're not that complicated. As long as you have a sensible pad/stripboard layout you'd be good to go.

I have to design a stripboard layout for Hurb's clone and the circuit is COMPLEX. It's gonna take me a while.

The cheese sounds pretty brutal! I'm not a big fuzz fan, but I'd like to give that a go!
And the boost sounds just like mine ;)

Mine's vintage though- 23rd May :D

I don't think the Cheese would replace my RAT in a live situation, I don't want to have a handful of dirt pedals to use in a live situation- but for recording and such, it'll be great.

Nice CC samples! I waited forever to get my kit from OLC and then they shipped it missing a few parts and with about a dozen extra resistors. I've had an e-mail in to them for a week now with no reply. Guess I'll have to sort it myself at Mouser. I'm sick of waiting!!!

That would be fantastic! I understand how crazy keeping up in a fast growing small business can be, but I hate waiting on a reply for more than a few days. Going through the salesperson for tech support isn't ideal.

I pm'd you. Nice board shot by the way, I always struggle taking pictures of my stuff. It's a lighting issue I think.
