Should I DEW IT? I've been trying to justify buying another Dano since my 1448 and U1 are just so damn fantastic - this gives me a good excuse, as it's practically a different instrument. Opinions?

I dunno 'bout this one. It is cool and all, but I'm not so sure...
If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

We have it in our ultimate collection :D

I bought one for Fredo for his birthday last year. We have the Italia model. It's real fun to play!

IDK either - I'm looking for a distinct, 60s texture to add to my college ensemble - either this or an electric 12-string would be right up my ally.

You're headed in the right direction, either of the two would most definitely add that 60s vibe to the ensemble's sound, but I'd weigh in the balance based on what overall style you're after. Being a fan of 60s pop like The Seekers, early The Byrds etc my heart would firstly move toward a XII string, but if it's FacesStones/garage rock vibe that needs a psychedelic dash of masala and herbs, you know where to go.

My friend here has the Jerry Jones Baby Sitar, which has the cute little gourd shape(with leg rest) and just six strings. I liked it for the simplicity and playability of it all, did the lead lines with little effort and sounded great. Best buzz around!

Fredo's Italia was more fun than a bag o' monkeys indeed, and don't forget the January meet up improv vid, thru Fuzz Factory:

I keep going back and forth - mostly because, even though I love 12 strings, I can get a functionally similar timbre from a chorus pedal (without having to tune and restring). If I could find a cheap Electric XII or other SS 12, i'd totally do it. Right now all i'm finding is really long scale (would break strings alot) or heavy (the Agile Les Paul XII).

As far as style goes the XII would make more sense, but I feel the sitar would be much more distinctive and attention grabbing. Plus, even if the rest of the band hates it, I would still have fun noodling with drone-y indian stuff in my room.

Not leather, but a "crackle" finish. It feels pretty smooth to the touch though.
