how many of you have never actually played a shortscale?
i have (admittedly) never played a shortscale. i know that im going to get flamed to death for this, but it's because the guitar places i go to (my local place and GC) never seem to have SS's in reach / in stock.
however...this is certainly not to say that i dont want to play/own one, and anybody who wants to chip in and make a mocaster, be my guest.

I won't chip in, but I'll build it for you
I don't think I've gotten a chance to go nuts on a shortscale, but I've toyed around.
If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus
i may be a SS noob, but ive been a member of SS since the beginning, i know (most of) the jokes and ive been the laughing stock a few times with my shit strat projects. damn, i sound salty.

I need to get another one and just play nirvana covers all night!
Lol, what a foolish statement. You mean Arctic Monkeys right? I'd like to see your point of opinion but there is'nt room for me and you up your own arse.
So, if you own a shortscale you are some krudtz wannabe or whatever?
I'm gonna subscribe to your album/whatever thread just to see how amazing and original you sound. Srsly, i'm not negative but i really look forward to it.
The ridiculous thing is, Nirvana covers sound better on my Ibanez. Forget the shortscalez. Come on Ian, get one of the RG series its way more suitable.
My first guitar was a musicmaster. I goofed up and dismantled it and lost parts of it. I spent the next few decades playing an SG and a Strat--both fine guitars. When it occurred to me to sell my parts on ebay I started researching it and decided I would feel better to put it together instead. From there it's been slippery slope. Part of the the initial appeal for me was that I could get parts for a lot cheaper than the big names. I poked around and found this place and thought there was good info and lulz here. From the census--which only covers Fenders, it's clear that we are all pretty varied in taste or the good fortune to end up with what we have. This board isn't religious about any one model, like the Jag Stang. But if you happen to like them, it's a must.
I happen to like the short neck, offset contours, and candy colored paint. I wish even a few other products made me feel as good. If I lucked out on an old strat or LP I don't think I would pass it up. I was stupid lucky with my tele.
I've had a Jaguar, and 3 duo sonics of various ages.
I liked the Jaguar a LOT, but I think I play better on my 25.5" scale guitars. My duosonic expeirences were pretty weird. One I sold, becasue it was ultra shortscale. Pre cbs 22.5" scale. It was cool, but I NEEDED a tele custom II. Glad I sold it. my second Duo Sonic I had for one day. I got a massive traffic ticket a couple days before it hit my doorstep. Third duosonic I still have, its a90s fender RI. Its also super short scale, it kind of forces me to play differently. right now it's my "dirty blues" guitar. Not that I play much dirty blues, but if I need to, i use the Duo.
Funny how my first Shortscale experience came this past January when I noodled about on Fredo's(or was it Bubble's) Teal Jaguar. Honestly it didn't really do anything for me, especially after playing a very well setup Jazzmaster for a few years, but when I picked up the Sonic Blue Jag, strung up a set of Dadadadario .011s and showered it with my lurve, things started to make sense. The scale, spongy trem, bright response and jingle jangle(read: pleasant buzz on hard strumming), and even the color configuration is already telling me how different it is from my Jazzo.
I feel one's enough for me, but Robroe's Mustang demo vids really make me wanna play around with one sometime, tho.
MO IS A LIER!!!!!!
he played my j.s. for about.... 32 seconds.
he said he wasn't too keen on the style/shape but it looked kinda cool cuz it was so beat up.
Well, you guys know about my hacked-about Swinger. Not the best guitar in the world by a long way but it's got something special. Nice narrow "A" neck, good for little hands like mine.
This is turning into more of a "what shortscale HAVE you played" thread - sorry.
