i think the preamp valves are fine, so i'm just gonna get a pair of power tubes and change them both.

Get an extra preamp just incase, you can swap it into each position then if you ever suspect one has gone.

If you've got the cashmonies, I'd just buy the preamp tubes too- you'll save on future postage and hassle, and will have the old ones there as backups. Plus your amp will sound SUPER-RAD, spesh if it's still got the stock ones in there.

yeah, they're supposed to be alright. I've never use them except for the Reverb Driver tube in my JVM.

ok, so i've just taken it to the music shop i got it from. thought i'd take it with me, so if i need to re-bias it they could do it there for me.

unfortunatly, change the valves didnt work as the replacement tubes were glowing a very bright orange colour and started to smell of burning quite badly. it did this with two more valves.

the shop thinks that my transformers may have a fault or something else has gone wrong. so now i'm right royally fucked off. :(

i was talking to Lou, he had similar issues with his Marshall recently. Nice score on the VM, I know that's your dream amp.

The JTMs have a reputation for running really hot anyway.

Mine's still fine though so far.

Progrockabuse wrote:well, i played an outdoor festival yesterday in the pouring rain, never a good start to the proceedings. then it went downhill from there.

firstly the stupid sound engineer tripped up over my pedalboard with enough force send it flying down the 8ft drop at the edge of the stage and smashed into a lovely wet concrete floor. i now have a twisted mess of a board in bits, no danelectro delay, as it is smashed. fortunatly, none of my other pedasl were damaged.

then after cobbling my gear back together, the tarpaulin that the again stupid engineers had put over the stage leaked straight on my side of the stage, soaking my bass guitar.

finally, both the power amp valves in the tweed died for no reason, so i'm now ampless.

basically, i'd like advice on what to replace my damaged stuff with. so were talking new pedalboard, new delay, new power supply and new vavles.

rant over :D lol
Here's some advice: playing outdoor shows suck, don't play them.

Sorry, but it's true.

delay depends on your price range and your needs- which danelectro delay did you use? I'd recommend the EHX stereo memory man, but since you've got to buy a bunch of stuff, that's probably too much. In the sub 100 range, I've heard a lot of good things about the Marshall Echohead and the Ibanez DE7.

As for Valves, get JJs. They're better than EHX/Sovtek tubes.
