Rolfs. Not really.
Picked this beauty up for a pityfull 80 quid (399.00 new).
Its a brand new Peavey Rotor EXP with Floyd Rose, edge binding, mahoganyz, rawk buckers, grovers, custom soft case...
Sounds awesome, plays great, looks terrible.... we'll go along way! Srsly, amazing quality for the price of a night down the boozer! I only bidded on it for the lulz and won it.
Eye candy lol...

My boss has one (waaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler than yours) and out of the 10 (?) geetars he owns, he told me it was the dopest. His was mad expensive, though, I think, I have no clue, though...
If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

Thanks guys <3
Its also personal and down to the user, you cannot really write down in musical notation how a player uses the trem... its 'feel'. There are so many ways to use it, 'dive bombing' is popular, but consider Hank Marvin, Ritchie Blackmore, My Bloody Valentine, Hendrix, EVH... they are all very different approaches. The Floyd may be ugly in comparison to past designs but lets be honest... Hendrix would have endorsed this system. My god. One of my dreams is to hear Hendrix play a Floyd equiped guitar, the thought of it is mind blowing.
The locking nut is essential for it to work efficiently, sperzel locking machine heads may do the job depending on your technique.
Association is the biggest problem here. We are all slaves to the image, we caterorgize and isolate instruments to specific genres, we take presentation over feel, coolness over capability. And shy away from the unknown.
People will hate me for saying that and argue the toss that whatever model is their guitar, cool, but are we not guitar players? If a guitar is good - it is good, right? It would be good to see people let go of their inhibitions and save themselves some money and time.
To be honest James, i played a lot of Floyd equiped guitars over the years because they never ever go out of tune. But that aside the fun to be had is great, its rock n roll expressionism in its highest form. It is also the best trem system in the world. Dive bombing, scooping, gargling, shimmers... there are many techniques.James wrote:Do you actually like floyds fran? or is it a means to an end for divebombing. I haven't liked them at all when i've tried them, but it's not really something I'm in to and I don't even like a strat trem.
The locking nut always puts me off too, though I think that's mostly association.

Whatchu think of equipping it with a roller nut? I never cared for the locking nut, I always left the locks off.
