(unintentional) pedal squeeling

Post by aen »

So I pared down the Arsenal to 2 pedalboards, but I'm getting this mad squeeling when I'm plugged in.

Do you think it could be from using the little center neg-center pos. adaptors on a OneSpot to power my Moogerfoogers? Everything else has been reliably quiet, the only ohter suspect being a deluxe memory man, I had another memory man that squeeled sometimes.

ugh. I was so pumped to get this board ready, and now its all fucked up.

What cables are you using?

They can cause the squealies too.

8 pedals should be fine to not make the onespot go nuts ..

it's a bitch but just keep removing pedals one by one to spot the bad guy maybe, if that's nothing then maybe it's the cables.. like one crappy cable is gonna be fine but for connecting pedals on two boards it might add up to form a wall of hiss... all i can think of really

A mixture of planet waves "fancy ass ripoff cables" music store "decent" plasticky jumpers and a fancy ass curly ripoff bullet cable. and one old thing that only says switchcraft on it. It sounds very similar to the noise the ringmod starts to make as I suck it's voltage away (around 6:40) it might be too quiet there, but when you have it in front of a fuzz, its a screamin DEMON. BTW everything is hooke dup withOUT and power starving utilities, ATM, excepting the one integrated into The Great Destroyer.

which is why i suspect a Moog power issue. Hopefuly using the individual moog plugs will sort it, Ill update tongiht!!!!

Fuck. It was the ring mod. *sigh* well, it wasnt on the list of "Shit that needs to be on the board no matter what" I kind of just tossed it on because it fit. HOPEFULLY I will have a co-guitarist before too long, and he can use it.

I think the issue is that it was reacting to a rather high gain fuzz in the chain. It's one that oscillates if you run a wah before it and tip it all the way to "treble terrorist" setting.

So the chain is

>baritone tele custom II or 50s tele (usually)--> hand maded bypass/feedback looper containig> Moog Freqbox/exp pedal>Crybaby Wah>Dwarfcraft Super Star Destroyer>Devi Ever Hyperion>POG>EHX Deluxe memory Man

then "out of the loop" volume(tuner out for tuning)>EHX stereo Memory man with hazarflibbori>Boss loop station (RC25 or summat)

The Metalz essentials. I'll proably work one more distortion type thing in there, maybe the next DCDevice.

MOTHERFUCKING BON IVER WAVED HIS CHECKBOOK AND I SENT IT OUT ON TOUR WITH HIM AND WILCO. I miss it every day. I cant even find the enclosure i drilled for my next shiva.

BUT that said, it will likely take the spot Hperion is in (go to powerchord exploder), and Hyperion will be moved to "Auxillary single note scratchy fuzz"
