That's a good deal. Those Wilkinson bridges are probably the best tuneomatics available - I have one on my 335 and it's a beautiful design.

Just checked out the jay tursor website - seems like they're rebranding the same chinese guitars as Alden. So basically they're identical lines with different names of the headstock.

The P90 one does look sweet and might have nicer tonez, BUT 3 chrome humbucklers = the sex. plus its a jazzblaster.

So... many... things... wrong.

Firstly, the pickups are just crappy humbuckers, not wide-rangers. The bridge is marooned in the middle of the pickguard. The edges of everything are squared-off and lame, so the guitar is fucking ugly. Strat knobs?! There's a stupid Jag switch plate where the 3-way should be. Sonic Youth would pissss in the ass of this guitar.

They make a blocked and bound neck! AND PUT THE WORST HEADSTOCK EVER ON IT!!

GRAHHH

With a new more refined scratchplate and new tailpiece, that could be neat. Oh, and P90s rather than buckers, obviously.

ya the headstock does look sort of like a shriveled penis.

there is a p90 one but i think this looks prettier. but yeh if i were in a proper gigging band right now, i'd buy it and bang the hell out of it.

We already knew this: Jay Turser, Alden and Hutchins are all made by the same factory, with slight variations on the same themes. Personally, I just want the Quadra-Star to come back so I can buy and sex the shit out of it.

If I could score that dirt cheap I'd put a new pickguard on and put in jazzy pups. Oh and wood-filler the headstock and paint it so at least it looks a little more respectable.

you probably want the Alden Surfmaster then:

Same list price on ebay. to me the pre-routed humbuckers appeal more as more pickups will fit it.

are they P90s or just jazzmaster style soapbars? hard to tell from the details on the alden website:

http://www.aldenguitar.com/product/prod ... =1&IID=156

I dont like having 3 pickups - cos combined with the 5 way selector, you cant use the neck and bridge pickups at same time. so ironically this guitar might not be so good for surf.

EDIT: theyre definitely P90s. the 2 pickup jazzcaster version has completely different fender style pickups.

You can clearly tell from the polepieces that they're P90s

If they're still £139, well worth it. Good fun!
