reworking: 1974 Mustang Project.

Post by serfx »

so i posted about this before the board died .. and i haven't really done much with it since then.
except get a control plate and a tail piece

and my neck showed up last week
i'm still short a humbucker...
but then again, theseglossyeyes is hooking me up with one
so.. yeah on to the pictures

Body
Image

it sat like this for many months
Image

i moved, stuff happened
then i got my control plate and my neck
Image

i kind of have this desire to sand it down, spray it red, and decal it
Image
its from a early 90's duo sonic
Image

also i'm thinking comp stripes, but i'd have to say good bye to my "eat your own" sticker
anyways...
here it is with my panda looking on
Image

and before i attach the neck i had to make sure that the scale would work

now i just need a white single coil cover for the neck pup (diMarzio class of 55)

i opted to do a colour matched head stock.
and ended up with comp stripes.. due to This Thread of awesomeness
plus i've always wanted a comp strip mustang..
scale is 22.5
just need to get some cloth wire and i'll be good. but now my issue is do i do the humbucker.. or opt for this beautiful twang king in the bridge position..
pick guard has already been mauled. so it goes.
massive picture update

Dude, that's not going to intonnate. MIM Duo necks are 22.7". Your tape shows 11-5/16" at the 12th fret, and 22-1/2" at the bridge. That should be a little more than half way between 22-5/8" and 22-3/4" to intonnate correctly.

haha, it's so zaney!

I cannot help with the question of pups - I like my singles and I likes my buckers...
If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

yeah taht measurement was done before i bolted it on, i corrected it after getting the neck on, wired up appears ok, i won't really know until i get the pups in and a set of 11's on it
since i just tossed on whatever i had for unused strings around to test it with.

alright she is finished!

decided to say fuck it on the humbucker.
who wants a humbucker anyways

neck pup is a DiMarzio class of `55
bridge pup is from the squier Bronco Bass

its got balls and twang.

the neck is from a 90's duo sonic II (22.7" scale)
i matched the head stock, since the green wasn't working for me
after about the 15th fret the intonation goes a little off, but i can live with that.

so.. now onto the pics.
