Peavey Butcher
We're getting rid of a bunch of studio gear, in order to fund an exhaustive and very much necessary soundproofing venture.
Most of the stuff we're getting rid of is redundant rackmount effects and guitars that seemed like a good idea at first, but that
never see any action. One of the items that is going up on the chopping block is this: (not a picture of actual amp)
My bandmate bought this thing off the bay, at some point and it showed up DOA, so we've never played it.
His stance regarding this thing and in light of our financial situation is that it's useless dead weight and that we
should get rid of it. Now I'm wondering, Shortscale... Do I buy this off of him for $200 and get it fixed or not?
As far as I can understand, looks like the problem with it is either the front end tranny, the backdoor tranny or both!
Are these things really as awesome as people make them out to be and it's totally worth my while buying and fixing it up
or is it just as Borden says, dead fucking weight?

You said backdoor tranny...laterallateral wrote: the backdoor tranny
I've never heard of them before. How much do the working ones usually go for?
Turned up this post from a couple of years ago:

about mods to make a Butcher sound better.
If he's thinking of dumping it, why does your band mate think it's worth $200?

Yeah, it is tube. From what I can tell, 1997-2003 prices oscillate between $200 and $600.bubbles_horwitz wrote:'s it tube? $200 seems like an awful lot for a broken peavey.
People generally seem to be satisfied with it but that may just be masturbatory Harmony
Central style reviewing.
And by "dumping" I meant selling it for $200 to somebody else.
