Newby Bass Questions....

I got a broken squier p-bass for $20. it needs a new neck, what kind of neck will fit on there? will jazz bass and p-bass necks both fit? they're the same scale right?

jazz bass necks are definitely thinner than p-bass necks. I don't know about the butt widths though, I've never tried swapping necks

lol, butt width...

They're the exact same scale. And while P's & J's are different widths at the nut, you should be fine with any J neck fitting in a Precision neckpocket. It's actually somewhat common for people to swap necks between the two for whatever reason, like a guy I knew wanted the tonal options of a Jazz but preferred playing the wider Precision neck so El Swappo!! Fender even has a Precision in production now with a Jazz-shape neck.

Trewth.

Fender Precision and Jazz bass necks are interchangable. Other Fender bass necks, like the Telecaster bass, or Mustang bass, will not fit on a P or J bass. But those are pretty rare, and you're unlikely to come across them.

Squier basses are great. The fender bass guitar design concept is NOT easy to fuck up. In fact, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't spend over $300 for a bass unless it was seriously cool-looking.

thanks, now im between this new squier bronco or the 90´s squier precision, the bronco has the looks and the shotscalz, but i think the P bass might be better quality, what you think mates?

i payed 300 for my mustang bass used.

why pay 140 for a bronco when you could get a mustang for 300 ?

if i ever got a bronco bass i would put a SD 51' QP pickup in it which would probably run the total up to about 200.

for 100 more you can get a used mustang bass

I'm going to give them a choice.

a) Quit that band
b) Die by my hand.

They should also change their name to: "We all have tradiitonal and unimaginative tattoos on our right forearms, which is indicative of our 80s rehash bullshit pop punk sound"
