Been thinking about it and.....finboy wrote:personally i don't like blank headstocks, i'd go with the full jag decal
Ahem..... well, its not a Fender guitar. The trem plate doesnt say fender and it's a hybrid Jag/Jazz so a matched headstock without a decal would be alright by me. After all Fender had fuck all to do with the guitar. (I guess except for coming up with the original body design).
I do have a set of White tipped Klusons for the headstock.
Edit: I guess the neck is a Fender, but still. Decal-less may still be cool.

Both look great.
As far as HS decals go, on custom jobs, I would jus write my own name. Ninja Mike-o-caster or some shit.

If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

I think your guitar was subconsciously in the back of my mind when I decided to go with comp. stripes.cooterfinger wrote:I like it. Looks pretty close to the same colors I used. Duplicolor Light Blue Metallic over Sonic Blue.
I really like that Strat. Do u have a pic of it finished?
I used duplicolor white primer, and for the color I'm using NAPA custom colors. They're like $25 a can tho'
The paint does dry pretty fast which is good cuz u can work fast.
Between kids, classes and work I haven't got around to finishing it. I've got the neck sprayed with a matching headstock and decal. Just got to get around to wet sanding and buffing it out. I was really pleased with how well the Duplicolor primer and paint went on and how fast it dried. I used Deft clear gloss for the clear coats.
Smells like Rock n' Roll
That's a negative on sanding color coats. I try not to even touch the color coats if it's a metallic color because your taking some of the flakes off each time you do. I put a can and a half of clear on it then hang it up for a month. For wetsanding I use baby oil and 800, 1000 and 2000 grit paper. I used to wetsand with soapy water but it seems like the baby oil works much better and a couple of drops will go a long way.

Thx cooter.
And for the few keeping up with the thread...
Change of plans (Again... )
I bought this cheap Jaguar Pickguard and I think I'm gonna go for the full Jag look....
I want to keep the white tipped klusons so the guard needs to be white.
I'm gonna have to get some pickups then... , crap and the rhythm switches too!
Anybody want to swap the P-90's for 2 single coils? What chu gotz Shortscale?
