Ibanez Talman (TC530 i'm pretty sure?), any expericence ?

Post by Mr Mustache »

Found this awesome looking Talman about 2 hours from here, and was wondering if anyone here has or had one. What are your thoughts on it? I would just drive up there and play it but i am still playing off my motorcycle and don't have the license i need to drive it yet..... So if i can find a way up there to try it, i want to be as sure as i can that i will come home with it. But for $150 i don't feel like i can go wrong really. To be honest the color is what really draws me to it, i like the body and the idea of having lipstick pickups, but if it were any other color i probably wouldn't like it as much.

I'm fairly certain that it's a TC 530?

For $150 it's well worth it. Bit strange it says $100 in the title though.

Do not play guitar while riding a motorcycle. This is a very dangerous activity.

Seriously though, I'd go for it. Even if it plays like shit, it still looks pretty fucking cool. Gotta love those lipstick pickups.

yeah i thought that as well but, i've already e-mail the guy and he comes across as honest so i'm assuming it was just a typo.

speaking of typos

yeah even if it plays like butthole, i am fairly certain i can fix it up.

wich model is desirable? and why?

after a little more research i have come to the conclusion, because of the bridge, that it is a TC 530, altho i've read the tc530 was only made in '94, he he claims to be the original owner and say it's a 97, he probable bought it in 97 new after it sat on the wall at the guitar store for 3 years

The humbucker model like what Noodles used in The Offspring. I guess humbuckers are generally more popular than lipsticks in the guitar community.
Its the same story with the Jackson/Charvel Surfcasters.

I'd love it, but unfortunately I can't afford to buy anything right now. If you want it we could probably make a road trip up there though.

that's very kind of you sir. i am now a bit tight on cash too but i will see what funds look like next week. if we do head up there we will have to make a stop at all the music stores up there, the GC has had a '63 jazzmaster for the past 2 or 3 years.

have you moved out of your place yet?

Partially. About half of what I want to take is already there. I'm hoping to be finished by the weekend.

I've had a couple over the years, I have always looked for a cheap lipstick model like that but never have found one.

I have this kind like the ones Paul Westerberg is playing in these vids.

For $150 it's a no brainer.
