oh you have no idea. i was so certain it wouldn't work. not sure why, probably just murphy's law. i'm so glad i didn't have to go poking around a live amp trying to figure out where i went wrong.
Torres are a US company that have UK distrubution. From memory the prices are a bit high though, and it might be cheaper to ship from some other company (this one, Ceriatone, etc.) or even Torres themselvesdirect from the US. I'll get a link now.
James, thanks for the links - your memory serves you well, Torres does come out pricey compared to Weber. I think I'll email Weber and get an idea of an all-in shipped-to-UK cost.
Bubbles, also check out the program Ardour for linux. It's good for doing raw multitracking and editing, then dump to a wav for post processing in Audacity.
Are you using Ubuntu?
And nice amp btw.

Awesome. Just use the "Add/Remove" app and search for those two apps, they both have packages ready. Single click install!

got bored, so i decided to replace all the resistors and the non-electrolytic capacitors with nos ones from apex. god, i love that place. $5 got me all the components i needed. i also cleaned up the wiring a bunch and replaced the speaker with a weber fane copy. and i replaced all the sockets.
it sounds pretty good and is a lot louder with the new speaker. i've had the amp apart for the past few weeks so i can't really remember what it used to sound like. it seems to sound slightly mellower, but in a good way. smoother, perhaps.
here are some pictures:
i bought one of these desoldering pumps, as the braid wasn't cutting it. it really works well for this kind of stuff.
