Brass Fretboard?
I'd love to hear it, not to own it though. I bet the brass fretboard makes it sound brighter than fretless guitar usually does.

Modified to become fretless. For a fretless you really want super low action. The decay is so great on a fretless, and the sustain so low that the best way to sustain a note is by having the action so low as the string will buzz across the board. For this reason, the fingerboards on fretless guitars have to be as flat as possible, and will probbaly have to be planed or shaved every so often very delicately so that they play just right as the wood changes.
Solid brass or glass fingerboard's are a workable alternative to woden boards.

I played a fretless with a brass board the other day - very bright from what I could tell (bad setup and roundwounds).
Some guy in Milwaukee (where the strat is) has been doing those brass boards lately - every shop in town has at least 1 in. He's also doing total build with bound brass boards which seem very nice. None of the shops set them up right, though.

How much does he charge for them? The boards, just?DuoSonicBoy wrote:I played a fretless with a brass board the other day - very bright from what I could tell (bad setup and roundwounds).

John Frusciante allegedly had some dude make him a replacement neck for a '65 strat that was fretless with a glass fretboard, it was making rounds on YouTube last year or so.
