Painted headstocks on strats always make me think of shitty Marlins from the 80s. If youre going to do that you might as well put a FR and a locking nut on it. The blackout/maple combo is dead sexy though.
Lovely socks. I too say no to matching headstocks; also, I'd have the switch where the volume control is - looks better, and less in the way, I reckon.
I am however, only too aware of what a fun process design by comittee can be, so ignore away.
I photoshopped my way through all the different layouts 2 volumes and a 3-way could have- I just know I'd be forever knocking the 3-way if I put it in the "top".
And in the middle ala the SX P90 Strats just seems like it'd be hard to get at quickly, spesh for killswitching.
This is a such a great thread because modding a strat is such an everyman project.
yea, the black guard w/ black everything looks much better in real life than it does on paper (er... monitor?). theres an old 70s strat in a local shop here that is like that and it looks so sweet. I'm strongly considering it for my guitar.
The scratchy still has the plastic on, I actually love the look that shade of grey gives the guitar, gonna try and find a similar colour spray paint in town today.
The neck pup is definately gonna be a bit on the close side to the edg of the scratchy, but I'm not too worried really- they mount to the body, so it's not gonna be putting any strain on the thin slice left on the side.
