GFS Pickups

It just sounds like a regular PAF-type humbucker to me tbh. I don't find it weak with 500Ks either, it's louder than what I had before. I'll probably end up getting a mean 90 for the bridge position one of these days, sometimes it bugs me that I didn't do that in the first place.
The vintage split sounds good, but I doubt it's a wideranger clone outside of the look.

I've got both those pickups in my WD tele kit and it sounds fucking amazing!! I had Kent Armstrongs in there before that, and wasn't happy with them at all, the GFS pups made it sound 10,000% better! And I actually kinda like the look of the uncovered neck pickup. They seriously sound absolutely amazing though. They basically sound exactly what I expect a good tele to sound like, but can get a lot more punch. They sound really good for just about any type of song I've played with them. You won't be disappointed.

i can't say enough good things about gfs, honestly. their pickups feel solid out of the box. . . they give you plenty of wire. . . and the sound is always well above average. i'm sure one could find a "better" pickup, but at this price point you'd be hard pressed.

Of all the aftermarket pickups I've tried or heard, I've always been able to find something about each one that I didn't like, but not with the GFS pickups that I have. I haven't heard or tried anythign else by them, but I definitely will in the future after being so pleased with these pups! They were shipped very fast, had a very easy to follow wiring diagram in the box, and like you said had plenty of extra wire.

GFS Loudmouth overwound humbucker in the bridge of the Emily the Strange G-310. An ugly pickup that sounds fantastic.

Our having the tone pot bypassed with coil split option, it may be something like 13.5k resistance but is plenty chimey and sounds really good split. Viva GFS for their affordable and good sounding pickups.

I have the Fat Bodies in both the neck and bridge of my Saga Tele. They sound delicious. First tele neck pickup I've enjoyed using. I hooked it up to a 4 way switch, they sound killer in series. You won't be disappointed. You will want to have sex with these pickups and have a million of their babies.

Did you put a cover on the neck pickup? If so what cover was it dude? I'm getting mixed feedback on this (slight aesthetic) issue

Bugger, thats annoying.

Stupid question - the GFS vintage splits come with 4 wires right? so did you wire them parallel or series? im confused on how theyre meant to be wired and what their output is rated as.

so if they're so good, that means there are no good aftermarket wide range substitutes, which is a shame (i believe fender wide rangers and reissues are slightly oversized, so wont fit in a regular humbucker slot).

The GFS pickups are made in Korea by Artec. Artec sell them to lots of people and you can even group buy from them.

Yes, it's full of win. I somehow managed to kill the neck pickup, but I still have the bridge pickup in and it sounds amazing clean and distorted.

I left the neck pickup uncovered. Originally, I had planned to stick a cover on it, but it looked nice without one. It has oversized pole pieces, which I think look cool. I don't actually know if a cover would fit, since I never tried it out.

I have GFS 64 Staggers, which I talked about in this thread. One of the best guitar related purchases I ever made.

I would say they are a good value but they are not super perfect pretty pickups. the "beveled" poles are really just barely beveled and the staggering always seems to be rather sloppy. but I mean, they still sound awesome and for the money I'm not complaining.

seriously, a squier bullet and a set of 64 staggers would take you a long way.

My '64 Staggers are still in their box after loading my CIJ "lampcaster" Fender '68 with good ol' underwound Moollon VS-59s, but they're bound to get used someday. Meaty but with a nice bright edge.

I fitted a Hot Nashville in the bridge position, on the Squier '51, a while back and it sounded spectacularly harsh and brutish, which is not at all a bad thing for the kind of stuff we're doing. I took it out in the end, though, because I already have the Jagmeister assigned to those kinds of sounds.

I'm thinking the pickup may have come off sounding like that because I just plopped it down in there without fussing over the wiring
and may have inadvertently hardwired it coil taped, if that's at all possible...
