NGD....Squier Classic Vibe Strat...

Post by RumorsOFsurF »

My new Squier "Classic Vibe" Strat just arrived. I bought this thing from the "Scratch and Dent" section on MF with the intention of modding/beating the shit out of it, but it's too nice. I love everything about this guitar, and it kicks the shit out of my MIM Powerhouse Strat.

Things to love:

GLOSSY AS FUCK neck with no skunk stripe
Great frets, even though I usually prefer smaller ones. (it has Medium Jumbos)
Nice looking sunburst
Ping tuners, instead of the usual Squier ugly ones
Great sounding Alnico V pickups
Trem actually stays in tune out of the box!!
Alder body

This Squier is absolutely fucking stellar. I'm going to buy a "Classic Vibe" Duo Sonic as soon as I have the $$$. Quality wise, these are damn near on par with all the CIJs I've owned.

Wow, the one I saw in the shop looked horrible compared to that one, the pickguard looked like an inkjet printout of red tort. I like yours.

+1 on that. Needs a scratchy scuffed & urinated/sunfaded mint guard in the Ultrabook.

Still looks like a big winner, although that's a fairly coarse 3 tone sunburst as far as "color gradation" is concerned, compared to my old CIJ '62. A 3-layer cake of sorts, maybe?

+1. I'm sure its a great guitar but that sunburst is horrible. And I speak as someone who LIKES bursts. The 2 tone on my Squier 51 looks better than that. Anyhow who cares what it looks like. Enjoy!

I don't like the look of a skunk stripe with a rosewood fretboard. Plus, it's totally unnecessary.

It looks a lot like a mid-sixties "target burst," which I really like. Much better than most modern Fender sunbursts.

1965 Strat: Pretty similar, IMO.

I'm not a huge fan of the pickguard on this one, but it's okay. I'll probably change it to mint or white. I'd go with black, but I don't want too much of an SRV vibe.

You cheeky bastards.

Rob's right, this thing is REALLY NICE. I'm amazed by the quality. I'm now a Squier believer.

I thought about refinishing it in black nitro over the sunburst, then beating the hell out of it, but it's so nice.

As far as the scratch and dent thing, I couldn't really find any scratches except some really minor scuffs in the fretboard. I don't give a fuck about that, though.
