Ibanez Flying Pan reissue
I guess Ibanez is only making 777 of these. The originals go for close to a grand so these may be worth checking out.

I love those old style boxes, I hate how every uses those generic MXR style boxes and even worse that new box E13 and Catalinbread uses that's like the size of pack of gum. I understand it's the IPOD generation and everybody is obsessed with making everything diminutive but it's lame.

I can't afford different boxes to every other fucker
I understand why small "boutique" makers and the hobbyists use them, they're affordable and durable. I meant more the production guys and name companies who could maybe r&d something neater.Mike wrote:OIjcyphe wrote:I love those old style boxes, I hate how every uses those generic MXR style boxes and even worse that new box E13 and Catalinbread uses that's like the size of pack of gum. Where can I find slider potentiometers, I looked on mouser but they don't have any by that generic search term.

This isn't really relevant, but: I had a thougt the other day. I'd bought a decent volume of Orwell's essays, it's a decent sized hardback. I was thinking about how you can hollow out books to hide crap in, and thought it would be cool if you hollowed one out and housed a pedal in it. Obviously you'd have to reinforce it and lacquer the fuck out of it, but I reckon it would look cool if you had an old book with a couple of knobs sticking out of it. Would be kinda large though.jcyphe wrote:I understand why small "boutique" makers and the hobbyists use them, they're affordable and durable. Insanely cheap. Their regular pots are Alphas and sell for $0,50.
Totally recommend them. Are you making a Harmonic Perculator?

Irrelevance is cool sometimes, and that would garner a heap of curious stares indeed.
I've in mind to cause some stares as well: While on the topic of the less than ordinary, it looks like my first simple wiring project will be an impractically sized MOSFET boost in a huge 7.5" x 4.3" x 2.4" Hammond-style box. Single knob on a very sparse top, accented with a printout sticker image of some anime character/scene.
