is that you get to use lots of cool words:
  • phantom power
  • pop shield
  • crossfade
  • cannon jack
  • sidechain
All of these are very exciting words that would you wouldn't get to use normally

I've had these as part of my vocabulary for long enough that I don't really think about the cool factor of the language used. I do like when technicaly terms are used as adjectives to name something by. Binaural and Near-coincident are two I can think of.

I like using words such as Compounder, spectural analyzer and multi band compressor... even tho I very rarely actually use any of that stuff...

I always enjoyed it when my teacher said attenuate...
If you think of god as a pair of pants, a spiritualist thinks he needs pants, in fact he wants pants but none of the conventional types of pants seem to fit just right, so he makes his own pants and is happy that his knees are no longer cold.-fibus

There's some software were you can either draw into it, or upload a picture and it makes a waveform based on it like that. A mate did one and it sounded like the old internet dial tone.

There technology for blind people that uses a camera mounted on glasses, headphones and software that does that with video frames. It allows them not to see but more to detect how close things are in a certain direction.
